I took my mother to her last doctor appointment a couple of
weeks ago, and found out that her triglycerides were 400 even though he said
that her cholesterol was good. But, the doctor said that he would not give
her medication for her triglycerides being so high. And, her next
appointment was not set until May 27th.
He said that rather than giving her medication for the high triglycerides,
he would take her off of the prempro that she was getting. But, after the
appointment, I had two nurses that I talked to say that they wondered why he
did not put my mother on medication for her triglycerides being so high.
She is diabetic and using blood sugar medication in the pill
form. SO, I began to be concerned and wonder if my mother should have a
second opinion. And, I then called the doctor’s nurse to ask her why she did
not get put on medication. And, the doctor’s nurse said that the doctor
would wait to see what the triglycerides would do after taking away my
mother’s prempro medication (hormone therapy). For, her nurse said that
stopping the prempro could affect her level of triglycerides.
I am wondering if the doctor is right in doing what he did by
not prescribing my mother any medication to lower her triglycerides. And, I
am wondering if the removal of my mother’s Prempro could really affect the
level of her triglicerides. I still wonder if I should be taking my mother
to get a second opinion. Are her triglycerides really so high that she could
be in a serious danger if she does not get put on any medication. She is old
and frail, so she does not get any exercise. SO, she does not have a chance
to get any help in a natural way from exercising.
