There is an hmo called Aetna US healthcare medicare plan.
If you pay an extra premium to it, you theoretically have the right to
have aetna pay for some of your health care at non-Aetna health care
providers. However (based on my experience), Aetna will not recognize the
existence of your claim if it is not accompanied by a "universal" bill
(probably not the kind of bill you have). It is important to understand
that aetna will not deny your claim (regardless of how explicit and
well-documented it is), aetna will simply disregard it.
Another thing to know is that you can’t change an option without an aetna
option-changing form. You may have to wait much time before a form
becomes available. Then get it, fill it out, submit it, and wait, hoping
that aetna will eventually recognize the existence of your request.
If you want to submit a grievance, no special form is required. You may
fax your grievance to (860) 636-2609. Based on my experience with aetna’s
other offices, I guess that you wait several weeks, call up to inquire
about the status of the grievance, and then get told that they have no
record of it. Certified mail, return receipt requested, mail might be
wise.
