Just wanted to let all of you fitness enthusiast know about a scam that the
very popular Gold’s Gym is perpetrating on unsuspecting members that sign
contracts for the use of their facilities. You go in thinking that when you
sign a contract that you are only obligated for the amount of time or number
of payments that you sign up for, such as twelve months or twenty four
months or what have you. What the represenitives will fail to tell you is
that after the time is up on your contract they will automatically put you
on a month to month basis that you will be obligated to pay, and the only
way to get out of the contract is to fill out a form and send it to their
headquarters in Lexington KY. via certified mail with return receipt
requested. Sound easy enough? Well that is not the end. The form has to go
through a committee and if approved it will still take an additional thirty
days before it is processed, and yes you will also have to pay for their red
tape. I signed a contract for twelve months which ended up being fourteen
payments after which I thought it was over, then they hit me with their
little surprise which has cost me and additional two months of payments. So
lets see for a one year contract they have bilked me for an additional four
months worth of payments. Buyer beware!
